The Treasurer is responsible for money matters: setting and collecting housing fees, budgeting for food and other major expenses, etc.
Try to meet with the corp board treasurer at least once a month. The longer you put it off, the longer the meeting will be when it finally happens.
Keep meticulous records of EVERYTHING. The Treasurer's job (and thus the whole House's financial management) relies on the level of organization, punctuality, and planning abilities of the Brother occupying the position.
At the beginning of the semester, ALWAYS set a budget with the officers. Set up the budget on googledoc spreadsheet, share it with the officers, and input new expenditures out of their initial budget every time the officer gives you an expense slip and you approve it. That way, you and the officer are always synced in terms of how much money that officer has left in his department.
The specific duties of the Treasurer are: 1. Paying bills on time so we don't lose utilities and junk. 2. Deciding on a budget for different departments in the House, advised by the Corp Board Treasurer. 3. House Liaison for Omega Fi, advising Omega Fi on how to bill different brothers on different things. 4. Every day handling of reimbursements.
